Turkey population on the rise in MO


JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The turkey population is on the rise in parts of Missouri this year, with no big reason why.

The Missouri Department of Conservation's report says that compared to last year, the Northwest region saw a greater than 50% increase in turkeys.

Overall Missouri's statewide poultry-to-hen ratio was 11% greater than last year, and Reina Tyl, the Wild Turkey Program Leader for the MDC, told KXCV/KRNW that there's no explanation for the increase.

Tyl adds that she's thankful for everyone that participated in the survey, and is hopeful for the increase in turkey in the future.
